Sleeve Tattoos in Wilton, Near Salisbury

A full sleeve starts with more than a collection of pictures. At BcS Tattoos in Wilton, near Salisbury, Saul enjoys planning large-scale tattoos that work as a whole: arm sleeves, leg sleeves and back pieces, developed around your ideas and the space they need.

Sleeve tattoos planned as one piece

A sleeve can tell one story or bring several subjects together. Either way, the overall plan matters: the main elements, the spaces between them and how the composition moves around your arm or leg.

You might be starting with clear skin, building around an existing tattoo or bringing several ideas that don't yet fit together. Tell us the bigger direction from the start, even if you want to begin with one section.

You don't need a complete sleeve drawing before you book a consultation. A few references, subjects you care about and an idea of the look you want give us somewhere to begin.

Plan your large-scale tattoo with Saul

Saul has eight years of tattooing experience and a particular interest in full arm sleeves, leg sleeves and back pieces. Realism is his favourite style, alongside geometric, Japanese, traditional and other custom work.

Look through his portfolio for the kinds of compositions you like. You may be drawn to detailed black and grey realism, repeated geometric forms or a larger subject with supporting elements. The consultation is where we discuss which direction fits your ideas.

If your project involves an old tattoo, mention it before the design starts. Our cover-up page explains the information to send for an initial discussion.

Full sleeves, half sleeves and back pieces

The area you want tattooed helps set the scale of the project. A half sleeve covers a more limited area of the arm; a full sleeve allows a composition to extend further along it. Leg sleeves and back pieces offer different shapes and spaces to work with.

Rather than choosing a size only by its name, tell us where you want the tattoo to start and finish. Think about whether you might extend it later and whether there are existing tattoos the design needs to work around.

We can then discuss the main subjects and how much room they need. The aim is a composition that works on your body, with the detail and contrast given enough space.

Sessions and the overall plan

Large-scale work is often a multi-session project. The amount of detail, coverage and shading affects the plan, so we won't give every sleeve the same number of appointments.

At your consultation, we'll discuss the project and how it could be broken into sessions. Ask about likely appointment lengths and the overall commitment before deciding how to proceed.

You'll receive aftercare instructions after each tattoo appointment. Follow the studio's guidance and discuss the next session with your artist; there is no single schedule that suits every project.

How much does a sleeve tattoo cost?

A sleeve is a custom project, so the quote needs to reflect the design, size, detail and placement. A simple outline of the idea, a few references and the area you want covered help us give you a useful answer.

Your consultation is free. A non-refundable deposit secures a tattoo booking and comes off the final price. Ask for the current deposit and terms, how sessions are priced and what the estimate includes.

Finance options can be discussed in person after the consultation, once the design and cost are clear. Ask the studio for the current provider's terms and the options available for your project.

Sleeve Tattoo FAQs

  • That can be a useful direction to discuss. Tell Saul that an extension is part of your longer-term plan, so it can be considered when choosing the composition and where the first section ends.

  • It depends on their size, placement and the look you want. Send clear photographs of the whole area, not just each tattoo in isolation. Existing work may influence the design or need a separate cover-up discussion.

  • There is no single number for every sleeve. Coverage and detail make a difference. We'll discuss the design and how it could be broken into sessions at your consultation.

  • No. Bring ideas, reference images and the subjects you want to include. It also helps to say which parts matter most and which you are happy to change as the composition develops.

  • Yes. Ask how appointments are priced and paid for during your consultation. Finance is a separate discussion with its own current terms; booking several sessions should not be assumed to mean a particular finance agreement.
